Through the Bible – Message 52

Galatians
Paul’s letter to the Galatians reveals that true Christian freedom is not found in exchanging one set of religious rules for another, nor is grace permission to live according to the flesh. Christ has set us free from the law so that we may live on a higher plane—led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This teaching examines the difference between outward righteousness produced by rules and inward transformation produced by grace; the danger of seeking to please men rather than God; justification by faith; Christ living in the believer; and the necessity of walking by the Spirit. The evidence of this higher life is not lawlessness, but the fruit of the Spirit and a life increasingly conformed to Christ. Ultimately, freedom from the law is inseparable from life in the Spirit and the way of the Cross.
