Through the Bible – Message 15

1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra
The books of Chronicles and Ezra reveal that God is deeply interested in individuals whose hearts are wholly His and who are willing to participate faithfully in the building of His house. From Jabez’s prayer and David’s preparation for Solomon, to Asa’s failure to continue trusting God, Uzziah’s pride, Hezekiah’s testing, Manasseh’s repentance, and Ezra’s devotion to God’s Word, these accounts contain enduring lessons for believers. The return from Babylon to Jerusalem especially illustrates a movement beyond individual spiritual life toward the corporate building of the Body of Christ—a work requiring consecration, unity, discernment, courage in the face of opposition, careful stewardship, repentance, and unwavering confidence in God’s sovereignty. The study reminds us that God’s eyes are upon those whose hearts are completely His and that He faithfully supports those committed to His purposes
