Amos & Obadiah

The books of Amos and Obadiah reveal that God is deeply concerned not only with what we profess, but with how we actually live. Amos, an ordinary shepherd faithfully carrying out his daily responsibilities, was called by God to confront a prosperous and highly religious people whose lives were marked by injustice, self-indulgence, compromise, and indifference to the needs of others. His message reminds us that outward religion can never substitute for righteousness, holiness, compassion, and obedience. Obadiah carries the warning even deeper, exposing pride as a doorway to spiritual deception and showing the seriousness of standing aloof when others are in need. Yet judgment is not God’s final word: these prophetic books also point toward restoration, the rebuilding of what has fallen, victory over the flesh, and a people who will proclaim that the Lord is King. This study calls us to humble ourselves, hear what God is saying, and faithfully respond.

1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
