Nahum, Habakkuk

The books of Nahum and Habakkuk reveal both the seriousness of God’s holiness and the security of a life lived by faith. Nahum reminds us that God is patient and slow to anger, yet He will ultimately judge pride, cruelty, exploitation, and the ways people injure one another. Habakkuk then takes us into the struggle of a man who cannot understand why God permits wickedness to prosper. Rather than turning away from God, Habakkuk brings his questions to Him, waits for His answer, and learns that God remains sovereign even when His purposes are not yet understood. The answer is patience and faith: “the righteous will live by faith.” As Habakkuk sees God rather than merely seeing his circumstances, his conflict of faith becomes the triumph of faith, until he can rejoice in the God of his salvation even when everything around him fails.

1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
