Mark

The Gospel of Mark presents Jesus Christ as the Son of God and gives us a powerful picture of His life in action. Through Mark’s account, we see Jesus calling disciples to both learn from Him and follow Him, seeking His Father early in prayer, doing His Father’s will, loving and serving people, confronting religious tradition and hypocrisy, exercising faith, and teaching His followers to take sin and discipleship seriously. These chapters also reveal essential truths about Christian ministry: God calls and shapes each servant according to His own purpose, believers need one another in the Body of Christ, faith must rest upon what God has actually said, and evangelism and disciple-making belong together. Ultimately, Mark confronts us with more than the question of what we know about Jesus—it calls us to follow the Son of God and allow Him to make us into what He intends us to be.
