5. Two Types of Sin

This study examines foundational truths in Genesis 3 and 4, highlighting the distinction between sins that primarily harm oneself and those that harm others. While Adam and Eve’s sin brought spiritual death and separation from God, Cain’s sin introduced injury against another person, resulting in a direct curse upon himself. The lesson reveals God’s character as one who convicts rather than condemns, always providing hope and a solution before addressing sin. It emphasizes that Jesus Christ came not merely to solve the symptoms of humanity’s problems but to deal with their root cause—sin itself. Believers are challenged to take seriously not only personal sins but also sins such as anger, gossip, accusation, and other actions that harm others, and to recognize God’s call to overcome sin through His grace.

1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
