Song of Solomon

Song of Solomon presents a beautiful picture of love in both marriage and the believer’s relationship with Jesus Christ. Beginning with an immature love concerned largely with what it can receive, the bride gradually grows into a mature devotion that asks instead what she can give to her beloved. Along the way, we see the importance of fellowship before service, guarding against the “little foxes” that damage love, listening when the Lord calls, remaining exclusively devoted to Him, and learning to serve alongside Him rather than independently of Him. Mature love ultimately desires Christ Himself above blessing, prosperity, recognition, or even ministry, and longs to remain inseparably united with Him. The Song closes with the bride awaiting her Bridegroom and crying for Him to come quickly—a fitting picture of a life whose deepest desire has become Christ alone.

1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
