Two Spheres
In Manaus, Brazil, a remarkable phenomenon can be seen between the Rio Negro and the Amazon Rivers. The meeting point of these two rivers is referred to as the Meeting of Waters. The coffee-colored water of the Amazon River joins together with the waters of the Rio Negro, which appear to be black.
If one looked down upon humanity from the viewpoint of the heavenlies, one could see in this world two distinct streams of life, the natural and the spiritual. Its color easily identifies each. The natural waters are black, those of the spiritual are yellow, and even where they meet and mingle either in business, society, or the home, the sharp color line of distinction may be seen.
The Rio Negro and the Amazon have different sources. Each partakes the color of the water at the fountainhead all through its course. The natural and the spiritual in human life also come from two distinct sources. Each partakes through its course of the quality of life at its fountainhead.
All humanity is divided into two spheres. One is the sphere of sin, and the other is the sphere of righteousness. There are three outstanding characteristics in which these two spheres are identified: the sphere of sin by darkness, death, and disorder; the sphere of righteousness by light, life, and liberty. In the sphere of sin, Satan is the sovereign, and in the sphere of righteousness, Christ is the Sovereign.
Scriptures themselves declare that there are these two spheres of life and that Christ Jesus died and rose again to bring men out of the one into the other. In Paul’s defense before Agrippa, he states his God-given commission as a minister and a missionary to the Gentiles. God told Paul exactly what He expected him to do.
Acts 26:17-18
17 delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—to whom I am sending you 18 to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
Paul preached to those who were bound, obscured, and blinded. He was sent that they might be enlightened and emancipated. They were to be turned from something to Something, and they were to be turned from someone to SomeOne.
Colossians 1:13
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son
The believers have been rescued from Satan’s dominion and removed into God’s Kingdom.
Ephesians 5:8
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
There are these two sharply contrasted and distinctly marked spheres in which men live, and each one of us, at this moment, is in one or the other of these spheres.

Thank You, Lord. Your death has delivered us out of the sphere of sin and has transferred us into the sphere of righteousness!
In Him,
