That We May Know Him

Who is True

All That Jesus Taught-Lesson 15

All That Jesus Taught-Lesson 15

February 20, 2026 Marion Merriweather Comments 0 Comment

In this continuation of “All That Jesus Taught,” we examine Jesus’ sobering words in Matthew 5:20 that our righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees if we are to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Moving beyond external obedience, Jesus exposes the heart-level sin behind anger, bitterness, and unreconciled relationships, revealing that internal attitudes—not merely outward behavior—determine true righteousness. By connecting The Sermon on the Mount with teachings from Acts, Ephesians, Philippians, and John, this message calls believers to maintain a blameless conscience before God and men, pursue reconciliation quickly, and live in Spirit-led obedience that reflects the deeper quality of life Christ requires.

1 John 5:20

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
