Parts of the Spirit (Hidden Part)
In the previous blog, we looked at the difference between the spirit and the soul. We will now consider the different parts of the spirit. We will not go into great details in this blog about their functions but give an overview.
The human spirit is composed of three parts, with three main functions: the conscience, fellowship (communion), and intuition.
According to Psalm 51:6, the parts of the spirit are the hidden part
Psalm 51:6
Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
The conscience is the discerning organ
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 5:3 he judged a sinful person in his spirit.
1 Corinthians 5:3
3 For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing.
Judging is an act of the conscience. To condemn or justify is a function of the conscience.
Romans 9:1
9 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:16
16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
Intuition is the sensing organ
Intuition is the direct perception of truth independent of any reasoning process. The direct sense shows that the function of intuition is in our spirit.
Mark 2:8
8 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts?
Our spirit can discern what the soul cannot discern.
1 Corinthians 2:11
11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
Acts 18:5
And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.
Fellowship is to worship God.
Fellowship is our communion with God. Fellowship is to touch God.
John 4:24
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Service is mainly fellowship with the Lord in our spirit.
Romans 1:9
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I mention you
Genuine fellowship means we become one spirit with the Lord.
We can know by the above scriptures that our spirit has at least three functions.
Lord, help us understand that we have a spirit and every communication with You occurs there.
In Him,
Marion
