All That Jesus Taught-Lesson 1

Christianity has largely failed to maintain an appropriate balance in fulfilling the Great Commission, prioritizing evangelism over discipleship. While most Christians, churches, and missions emphasize preaching the gospel as commanded in Mark 16:15, the equally vital command in Matthew 28:18–20—to make disciples—is neglected by the vast majority. Imagine many people lifting one end of a log while only one struggles at the other. This imbalance harms the Church’s mission. Evangelism is affirmed as essential, especially in unreached areas, but it is presented as only the beginning of Christian obedience. The burden of this study is to restore a 50–50 balance between evangelism and discipleship, emphasizing that Christ never intended conversion alone to be the end goal, but rather the making of obedient disciples in every nation.
