In this study from Matthew 5, we examine Jesus’ radical commands concerning revenge, mercy, lending, and loving our enemies. Moving beyond the letter of the law to the spirit of Christ’s teaching, this message explains what it truly means to “turn the other cheek,” lend without expecting return, bless those who curse us, and be perfect in mercy as our heavenly Father is merciful. By comparing Scripture with Scripture and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, believers are called to eliminate hatred, refuse revenge, and reflect the character of God in daily life.
