God and Satan in Conflict
None of us can deny that evil exists in the world. There are evil forces at work in numerous ways and through various channels. This evil power works intelligently everywhere for the disintegration of mankind and the defeat of God. There is a forceful opposition to God and His purpose in our world.
Power is a product of personality. To acknowledge the presence of power forces us to recognize the reality of a personality originating and directing it.
The Bible does not treat evil as an idea. A lie is the spoken language of a liar.
Acts 5:3
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
Murder is the fulfilled desire of a murderer.
1 John 3:12
“Not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother.”
Behind the human personality was a supernatural personality. Ananias was the mouthpiece, and Cain was the tool of another. Their evil was the revealed power of a concealed person.
It is the Bible that tells us that such an evil one exists. The authority for the statement that there is an evil one, and he is the devil, is Christ.
Matthew 13:19
When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart.
Matthew 13:39
The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
BUT. . . the good news is
The Bible also reveals that good forces are at work also. There is a good power that operates everywhere intelligently for the regeneration of mankind and the exaltation of God. There is a forceful opposition to Satan and his purpose in our world.
The Bible does not speak of good as a simple concept.
It, too, invariably is the product of personality. The authority for the statement that there is a good one and that He is God, is Christ Himself.
Matthew 13:24
Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.”
Matthew 13:37
He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.”
The evil one is the opposite of the Good One. Satan is set forth as the greatest enemy of both God and man in the Scriptures. This is seen by the names and titles given to him.
In the next blog, we will look at the different titles given by God to Satan and their meanings.

Gracious Lord, help us allow You to be the Good One within us. Keep and protect us as we continue to fight the good fight of faith.
In Him,
