All That Jesus Taught-Lesson 33

This study explores Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 8 about the true cost of following Him. When a scribe offered to follow Christ anywhere, Jesus immediately revealed the reality of discipleship: “The Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Through examples from the Gospels, including John 7–8, we see that Jesus lived with remarkable simplicity and faithfulness, often without comfort or recognition. His responses to different individuals also demonstrate the importance of spiritual discernment rather than rigid rules. Ultimately, the central lesson of Jesus’ life and ministry is to live moment by moment under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As Romans 8:14 teaches, those who are led by the Spirit are the sons of God. When believers fill their hearts with God’s Word and love for people, the Holy Spirit equips them with wisdom and the right word for every situation.
